This week in NFL history the Seattle Seahawks set an NFL record with four interceptions returned for touchdowns against the Kansas City Chiefs. Dave Brown took the first one off a tipped pass, 90 yards up the sideline for a touchdown. Keith Simpson scooped one on an under thrown ball and took it 76 for the Seahawks 2nd defensive touchdown in as many drives. Chiefs starting quarterback Bill Kenny threw was injured on the next drive and back up Todd Blackledge.
From there on, it went from worse to sickening if you’re a Chiefs fan. Blackledge threw three picks in three consecutive drives. And a rookie third stringer threw the record breaker. Dave Brown took another Blackledge pass and scored his second touchdown of the day. Hall of Fame safety Kenny Easley made the rookie pay, and trotted the record breaking interception across the goal line with a crowd of Seahawks around him. Six interceptions thrown by three different quarterbacks for four touchdowns.
That’s a helluva day for defensive unit that didn’t have a clever nickname.
