Sure, the last days of August mean another gorgeous Northwest summer is coming to a close. But for the staff at KushMart, that means just one thing: it’s time for the Everett Craft Beer Festival! So whether you’re a dedicated beer snob who can tell the difference from a lager and a pilsner at 100 yards, or just someone looking to drown your sorrows at the thought of the coming rain, make sure to mark August 20th on your calendar.
Now in it’s fifth year, the Everett Craft Beer Festival will give attendees a chance to sample brews from over 30 of Washington’s boutique breweries. Organizers have really hustled this year, which means there will more than 100 beer on tap, but remember: this isn’t like Pokemon. Catching them all isn’t the point.
We’re suckers for the handiwork of Georgetown’s Elysian Brewing Company—seriously, their brewmasters can make even malt liquor taste delicious—and also happen to love the Kushetka Russian Imperial Stout and Bad Wolf Dark Ale from Counterbalance. But with so many options available, we’d suggest sticking with the five ounce tasting portions and looking for off-beat or season offerings. Local outfit Diamond Knot might even have their famous Shipwrecked XXX on hand. Of course, there will be plenty of food vendors on hand to help you soak up the suds.
Past years have proven the Everett Craft Beer Festival to be extremely popular, so while there are ticket available at the door, you can save a few bucks and guarantee admission but picking them in advance on the official site. Obviously, this is a 21-and-older event, and KushMart strongly recommends appointing a designated driver. If they’re a good sport, the DD will even run you by the shop after the festival, so you can pick up something to head off your hangover. You’ll thank us in the morning!
